5 Makeup mistakes that may worsen your acne

When you confront with acne, you are very careful about the care products you use, but at the same time, you tend to cover it with many layers of foundation and concealer. Here are 5 makeup mistakes that may worsen your acne.

1. Don’t prepare your skin correctly
You probably use a base to prolong the makeup resistance, but in fact, it can act as a barrier between the skin and the foundation used, so your pores will be blocked. Primer creates a protective barrier to your skin and protects from any type of treatment used during your makeup routine. If you don’t feel the need to use a base, then hydrate your skin well before applying the foundation.

2. Apply makeup products with your fingers
At least once, you applied your foundation with your fingers. It can be handy and you don’t have to use more brushes or sponge for applying it, but our fingers can have many bacteria and then skin irritation develops. Even if you wash your hands well before applying the foundation, however, it’s not enough. Thus, it’s advisable to use a brush or sponge, but these should also be cleaned thoroughly before applying the foundation, and if you use a sponge, it must be moistened before use.

3. Don’t clean your brushes regularly
You probably don’t have time to clean your brushes after each use, but if you don’t, the bacteria on those brushes will be transferred to your skin, implicitly in the pores, until you clean them, leading to a sensitive, irritated and acne prone skin. This causes more skin problems, such as pimples and blackheads.

4. The foundation doesn’t fit your skin type
Some ingredients can block your pores, which results in the appearance of blackheads and pimples. Pay attention to the ingredients of the foundation and the way your skin reacts. Normally, make-up products don’t cause you acne, but some ingredients may accentuate it. It’s advisable to use hypoallergenic or non-comedogenic products to prevent your pores from being blocked.

5. Use too much powder
Most people who have acne skin have oily skin and for this reason, they also use a lot of powder to remove the excess of sebum accumulated throughout the day. If you apply too much powder, your skin will not look good. If you have oily skin, you can use a spray that mattifies your skin and set your makeup, and then use a translucent powder only on the oily areas.
