Nails with gel polish are similar to a natural nail. Practically, gel polish is acrylic based gel, that covers the nail, giving it a beautiful and lasting natural look. Acrylic is composed of liquid and monomer dust. These substances form a kind of resin that gives the natural appearance of the nail after application.
Favors skin cancer
It’s important that before applying gel on your nails, to know that this beauty ritual can put your health in danger. Dermatologists draw attention to the fact that applying gel to the nail predisposes to the appearance of skin cancer.
According to a study published by the Daily Mail website, scientists at the New York University School of Medicine, coordinated by Dr. Chris Adigun, a dermatologist, said that fake nails represent a health risk on long term:
“Women who use false nails or apply gel on their nails should take into account that they are exposed to skin cancer,” said Dr. Adigun. The specialist mentioned that the lamp used to dry the gel is the one that increases the risk of skin cancer because it emits ultraviolet rays.
You destroy your nails
Frequent application of a gel polish will soon lead to natural nail destroying. Ultraviolet light causes premature aging of the skin, and natural keratin cells are destroyed.
Whether it is acrylic or gel, both substances destroy cement intercellular that linking the keratinocytes between them, the cells of the nail. Another problem of using gel polish that it destroys the area from where the nail is nourished, under the cuticle part. Once applied acrylic or gel on it, natural nail doesn’t breathe and, like hair, it dries in time, peels and falls.
